| 説明 | Built in 1897 and renovated in 1928 and 1966-1968, this Mexican Baroque-style building was constructed to serve as the cathedral of the Diocese of Tucson, founded the same year as the building’s initial construction. The building is clad in textured stucco with two front towers featuring tiered octagonal open belfries with arched openings, domed roofs, and planters, an ornate front facade with terra cotta trim, roman arched stained glass windows, a hipped roof, and a wrap-around portico with arched openings on the rear facade. Inside, the building features a vaulted ceiling, rectilinear columns and arched openings with decorative reliefs between the nave and aisles, and decorative murals in the narthex. The building remains in use as the seat of the Diocese of Tucson. |
