説明 | Built in 1918, this Mission Revival-style building was designed by William and Alexander Curlett to serve as a hotel adjacent to the railroad station in Downtown Tucson. The building is clad in buff brick with a stucco-clad first floor facade, one-over-one, six-over-one and eight-over-one double-hung windows, a hipped and gabled red terra cotta tile roof, large first floor bays with prism glass transoms, a large rooftop sign, a third floor with a gabled roof and arched bays containing casement windows, and a suspended metal and glass canopy over the main entrance bay. Inside, the building features a lobby with murals consisting of colorful geometric motifs that are based on local indigenous art, a quarry tile floor, Art Deco-style light fixtures, metal railings, and columns with decorative brackets. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. Today, the building remains in operation as a hotel. |
