| 説明 | Built in 1874-1875, this building was originally an Italianate-style structure, and was renovated to its present Colonial Revival-style appearance in 1916 under the direction of Wilson Eyre and McLivain, which removed the original third floor. The building is clad in red flemish bond brick with a hipped and gabled roof, eight-over-eight and six-over-six double-hung windows, arched bays at the center of the second floor of the north, east, and west facades, a small front entrance portico at the main entrance with engaged doric columns and an architrave with triglyphs, quoins, stone trim, cornices with modillions and dentils, oxeye attic windows, and a large multi-tiered front tower with a domed cupola, finial, and clock faces. The building is a contributing structure in the Dover Green Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Today, the building remains the seat of the Kent County government and the home of the Kent County courts, with a large annex to the east containing additional office space and courtrooms. |
