| 説明 | Cirsium vulgare along the sewer line road at the west end of the Indreland Audubon Wetland Preserve, Bozeman, Gallatin County, Montana. This sewer line road was recently constructed but the introduced plant species such as bull thistle are most abundant only where this road rises well above the wetland where the roadsides are well drained and dry. These introduced plant species are uncommon if not absent where the water table is high. This likely reflects the inability of introduced plant species to successfully compete with wetland plants, which have extensive below-ground structures such as rhizomes and rootstocks. The spiny and green leaf surfaces are distinguishing of bull thistle. |
