| 説明 | Built in 1902-1903, this Classical Revival-style building was designed by Wilfred E. Mansur to serve as the Penobscot County Courthouse, replacing a previous building on the same site. The building is characterized by its red flemish bond brick exterior, hipped roof, rusticated stone pilasters and piers, stone block base, casement windows, front portico with ionic columns, arched bays, and front pediment with a cartouche, copper-clad cornice with modillions and dentils, and utilitarian two-story rear annex. The building today remains in use as the seat of the Penobscot County government, with a new Judicial Center elsewhere in Downtown Bangor housing the county’s courts. |
