説明Built in 1833 and renovated heavily to its present Italianate-style appearance under the direction of Towle and Foster in 1853, this building was built for the congregation of Hammond Street Congregational Church, founded in the early 1830s. The building is characterized by its red brick exterior, gabled roof, arched bays, decorative patterned brickwork, stone block base, and tower with an open belfry, clock faces, and a copper-clad steeple. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Today, the building remains in use as the Hammond Street Congregational Church, affiliated with the United Church of Christ.
