| 説明 | Built in 1854, this Italian Villa-variant Italianate-style house was renovated to its present appearance around the turn of the 20th Century with the addition of Queen Anne-style elements, including a second tower. The house is characterized by its hipped roof, bracketed eaves, original rectilinear tower with arched third floor windows, octagonal corner tower from the late 19th Century, double-hung and casement windows, large front porch with rectilinear columns and wooden balustrades, stone base, side porte cochere, and wooden clapboard-clad exterior. The house is a contributing structure in the Whitney Park Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. Today, the house has been the longtime home of author and Maine native Stephen King, whom has set many of his stories in the surrounding communities of Northern Maine. |
