説明 | Built in 1824, this Federal-style house was built for Albigence Waldo Putnam, and his wife, C. Ann Sevier Putnam, to serve as their home. The house was later the home of Captain Owen Frank, and in 1848, became the St. John's Female College, a private school affiliated with the Episcopal Church. The house is built of flemish bond brick with ionic pilasters, a side-gable roof, a front pediment above the central bay of the front facade, doors on the first and second floor central bays of the front facade with ionic porticoes and sidelights, six-over-six double-hung windows, a cornice with dentils, and a cast iron fence. The building is a contributing structure in the Marietta Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, and expanded to its present size in 2001. |
