説明 | The explosive motorboat (Bachino esplosivo), also known as the Motoscafo Turismo Modificato, was used by the Italian Navy during WW2 to attack moored enemy ships. The single crewman would steer it towards the target and lock the controls before ‘abandoning ship’. Although packed with explosives, it was light enough to get over torpedo nets and was used with success against the British cruiser HMS York, in Souda Bay on 26th March 1941.This example is on display at the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science & Technology in Milan, Italy.26th March 2023 |
