説明Built in 1912, this Jacobethan Revival-style house was designed by John Scott for Emory Leyden Ford, president of the Michigan Alkali Company and the J. B. Ford Chemical Company. The house was later the home of the Scherer family, and was where Robert Pauli Scherer invented a rotary die encapsulation machine used to manufacture gelatin capsules for pharmaceutical products in the basement, in 1930. The house later was home to the Detroit Children’s Museum from the 1990s until 2011. The house is clad in red brick with stone trim, a side-gable roof, gable parapets, one-over-one windows, a flemish front gable, decorative reliefs, and a gothic arched entrance bay below an oriel window on the front facade. The house today serves as the Hellenic Museum of Michigan, documenting the history of the Greek-American community in the state.
