| 説明 | The annual Wassailing ceremony took place at Bridport Community Orchard, Dorset, on the afternoon of Sunday 12th January 2025. A large crowd turned out to sing, to dance with Wyld Morris and hear storyteller Martin Maudsley. The Apple King & Queen were crowned, lots of noise was made and hopefully there will be a good crop of apples this year! This old custom of blessing the orchards traditionally took place on Twelfth Night and was originally a Pagan tradition dating back many hundred of years. Volunteers from the Community Orchard served hot and cold apple juice and Dorset Nectar Cider of Bridport sold plenty of cider! |
