| 説明 | 922.4.89 Reportedly from "Tah Fu Sze, Lin Yu Hsien Shensi" Shaanxi Prov. (山西省临猗县？大佛寺) mid 17th-early 20th Century Cast bronze; gilded and painted 141 x 45 cm Standing Buddha: Gilt bronze. Standing on double lotus pedestal. Stylized spike-curled hair. Two smooth protuberances on the head in addition to the urna and usnisa. Shawl worn open, revealing the chest, "Wheel of the Law" (shape of a swastika) on the chest. Left arm bent with palm turned upward; right arm down with the palm outward. Stylized eight-point lotus on both palms. Undergarment patterned in a small design; tied at waist with bow. Large flaring sleeves but no main garment for them. Twist in front section of the shawl under bow. Sleeves and shawl of a plain material with an ornamental border 3 inches wide. Traces of red and green pigment between lotus petals; blue pigment in the hair; red traces on the lips. |
