| 説明 | Built in 1954-1956, this Modern and Art Deco-style hospital complex was designed by Maguolo and Quick to serve as the Cardinal Glennon Memorial Children’s Hospital, which serves pediatric patients. The main building consists of a series of wings clad in buff brick with limestone trim, with the original sections of the complex featuring stone belt coursing that gives it a heavily horizontal emphasis, metal-frame windows, and multiple Modern and Postmodern additions to the west, south and north. The most notable section of the hospital is the chapel, which is clad in limestone with roman arched windows, a gabled red terra cotta tile roof, a stepped parapet, and decorative reliefs on the front facade. The hospital is slated to be replaced with a new facility at the north end of the Saint Louis University Medical Center campus, which will be completed in 2027. |
