The business was started by Don's parents, Bryce and Bernice Brown. As children, Don and his siblings helped their parents with the operation. Transient visitors were common when the Park started, with day-use fees as low as $5 per night. Rental cabins on the lakeshore were eventually replaced with trailer sites, as they required less maintenance and were more profitable.Don worked for the Ministry of Transportation material labs in Kingston. He met his wife Sandi when she was a camper at Brown's. They later married and lived in Kingston for six years. As Don's parents got older, Don and Sandi left Kingston to help with the family business.Over the years, Brown's Tent & Trailer expanded with the help of several family members. Richard Foy was one of the owners/operators since he was a young man until about 12 years ago when he passed his share of the business on to his daughter Lisa and her husband Matt Martin.Today, Keith Brown, his wife Kim, Lisa, and Matt continue the business on the north shore of Mazinaw Lake.
