説明 | This is the 2 Reichsmark value of a famous (infamous) set of definitive postage stamps issued by Germany in the 1940s. It depicts Adolf Hitler, one of the most evil mass murderers in history. This series of stamps is nicknamed "Hitler Heads". The 1 to 12 pfennig values were printed by typography. The 10 and 12 pfennig stamps were also printed by engraving. All higher values in the series were engraved. The 2 Reichsmark stamp (perforation 12.5) was issued in 1942 (= Scott Catalogue # 525a).Hitler Head stamps were famously forged by the British during World War II's Operation Cornflakes. The Americans made "Death Head" versions of the 15 pfennig value for propaganda purposes (see: www.flickr.com/photos/32705854@N04/51337909704 ).------------------------------------Info. at:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Cornflakes |
