説明 | Pine needlegrass growing in the dry open understory of whitebark and lodgepole pine along the trail to Mount Rose, Carson Range, Sierra Nevada, Washoe County, Nevada. The fairly dense and widespread stand of this bunchgrass, with bunches perhaps smaller in size that on average, suggests a recent colonization of the grass species at this site. The lemmas with long hairs that are usually conspicuous at the lemma tip, in addition to the lemma awn emanating from just off the tip because of the presence of two lemma teeth (upwards of 1 mm long) and an inconspicuous (<0.5 mm) ligule all suggest Stipa pinetorum.Lupinus breweri bryoides is the mat-forming lupine that is abundant at this site. |
