説明 | This is likely meadow brome because of its robust bunched growth habit (this grass stands about 1 m tall), leaf blades and leaf sheaths that are conspicuously hairy, and erect panicles of widely ascending spikelets that each average less than 2 cm long. This small population of a few bunches was observed in native vegetation just off the Sypes Canyon trail, near the junction with the Bridger Foothills trail, Bridger Range, Gallatin County, Montana. Meadow brome is an introduced perennial bunchgrass whose abundance is predicted in regularly disturbed environments. That this population of meadow brome was growing away from the trail and among an otherwise 100% cover of native plant species calls into question its identity as meadow brome. |
