Standing at 71 meters tall, it is the largest stone Buddha in the world and was constructed between 713 and 803 during the Tang Dynasty.This awe-inspiring figure was created with the hope of calming the turbulent waters that threatened passing ships. Recognized for its cultural and historical significance, the Leshan Giant Buddha was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996, alongside the Mount Emei Scenic Area. |
