| 説明 | Built prior to 1580, this church is one of the oldest buildings in the town of Oia, and is dedicated to Hagios Nikolaos, or St. Nicholas. The church features a rough-hewn volcanic rock exterior, a triple barrel vaulted roof, a blue dome at the center of the roof, a marble surround at the main entrance door, and a three-bell detached campanile embedded into the adjacent hillside. The church remains in use today as a Greek Orthodox Church, and features one of the most famous blue domes in the town of Oia, with the caldera and limewashed terraced houses as a dramatic backdrop. |
