| 説明 | Often misidentified as remains from the First World War airfield nearby (the ABCT marker doesn't help) but these buildings are almost certainly remains of what seems to be an unrecorded intermediate ground controlled intercept radar station dating from the Second World War. Intermediate GCI stations used mobile radar equipment but operated out of permanent buildings. They filled a technological gap between fully mobile stations and permanent sites with larger gantry mounted radar antennas. This visit was in mid-December 2023 and I just caught the last of the light before the sun set completely. While the sunset was stunning, finding my white balance has been difficult when editing these images! As much as I love a pink hue, it wasn't what this site needed. |
