In the Caryophyllales order and the Polygonaceae (knotweed, smartweed, buckwheat) family. Pennsylvania smartweed prefers wet habitats and is a Facultative Wet (FACW) plant in the U.S. National Wetland Plant List.In 2021, the North Parking Lot for the War Memorial Center was reconstructed, including the addition of multiple green infrastructure features to treat stormwater runoff from the parking lot.Photo taken early August 2023.
