| 説明 | Te Pito Kura is the site of the largest moai to have been transported from the quarry and successfully placed on a platform. It was over 30 feet tall and weighed over 70 tons. Its topknot is next to the head and added another 6 feet and 10 tons to the statue.This moai was named Paro and is one of the few for which the name was recorded. It was also the last one to be seen upright when a French explorer visited the island in 1838. After that time, no mention of standing moai occurs. The site is also an excellent example of an unrestored platform on which the moai stood. |
