| 説明 | Built between the 500s BC and 300s AD over a series of construction projects and reconstruction projects in antiquity and during the Hellenistic and Roman periods, this agora was the main governmental square of the ancient city of Ephesus prior to the Roman period, serving as a meeting place for the city’s leaders and the wider population of the city. The agora was lined with temples, the Baths of Various, and governmental buildings, including the Ephesus Prytaneion and the Odeon. The agora was excavated during a series of archaeological investigations in modern times. The ruins of the ancient city of Ephesus were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015. |
