説明 | Looking east down the nave on the site of an earlier 11c / 12c building to the south aisle added in late 14c / 15c . At the far end is the south transept where there is a tomb recess in the south wall with a 17c slate ledger stone fixed beneath the arch. The east wall may survive from the time Bishop Bronescombe dedicated 2 altars here in 1259, the date the first recorded rector Sir Henry de Brattone was instituted. Much of the five bay carved oak rood screen dates from c 1450 and was sympathetically restored mid 19c when the chancel was largely rebuilt and remodelled . On either side are squints linking the north and south transept altars to the high altar in the chancel The furnishings and barrel roofs are from the mid 19c restorations - Church of All Saints, Combeinteignhead Devonwww.youtube.com/watch?v=-wzci65--dI |
