| 説明 | Built in 1764-1765, this Ottoman-era mosque was constructed to serve the growing Muslim population of Rhodes due to its control by the Ottoman Empire. The building features a stone exterior with a stucco-clad front facade, rectilinear and arched bays, the base of a minaret, which was removed in the 1970s after becoming structurally unstable, the remains of a porch, which was removed in the 20th Century, a domed roof, and a decorative trim surround at the front doorway. The building today is used for events by the local Muslim community, but no longer functions as a mosque. The building is part of the Old Town of Rhodes, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. |
