| 説明 | Built in the 300s BC, these are the remains of the Hellenistic city walls of Rhodes, which protected the city from invaders until the Middle Ages. Today, only the lower portions of the walls remain, with the other material from the walls having been taken and repurposed in the 1300s and 1400s into the present-day fortification walls around the Old Town of Rhodes. The Hellenistic fortification wall remains are part of the Old Town of Rhodes, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. |
