ShookRemark: Ivan L. "Hutch" Hutchings was the proprietor of Hutchings' Restaurant, located at 712 Calumet Avenue in Valparaiso. This restaurant was established in 1924, taking over the location occupied by Inman's Hotel & Cafe, which was owned by Earl Inman. In 1932, Hutchings made significant capital improvements to his restaurant, including large plate glass windows and new fixtures.Hutchings also operated a hotel, Hutchings Hotel, in conjunction with his restaurant.Mabel Albe took over the Hutchings Restaurant in 1936, reopening it on May 17, 1936 as the Grand Trunk Inn. In 1939, Inman was again in ownership of the building housing the restaurant.
