| 説明 | Built circa 1928, this Art Deco-style building was designed by Ronald Greene and Stewart Rogers of Greene and Rogers for W. C. Shuey's Shell Distribution Company to serve as a service station. The building features a terra cotta-clad exterior with a two-story central wing flanked by two one-story wings, large bays on the front facades of the one-story wings, which are today filled with large plate glass windows, but formerly contained garage doors, fluted panels at the corners of the two-story wing and on the parapets of the one-story wings, rectilinear window bays on the second floor of the central wing with fluted trim surrounds, decorative sculptural relief panels, a metal canopy over the front entrance, and a two-story Postmodern-style wing that wraps around the building to the north and east, which was added during a renovation in 1987 by Rogers-Dameron Associates. The building today houses several jewelry showrooms. |
