説明 | Built in 1971-1973, this Brutalist building was designed by Perry C. Langston of The Bank Building Corporation of St. Louis to serve as the headquarters of the Standard Savings and Loan Association. The building features a concrete panel-clad exterior, tapered walls that are reminiscent of the pylon at the entrance to an Ancient Egyptian temple, eclectically placed window openings, ribbon windows at the top floor, a two-story podium on the south side of the building, a curtain wall at the infilled former front portico, and exterior stair and elevator towers that extend past the principal portion of the building to the south and west. The building today is known as Washington Square, and houses the offices of various departments of the City of Columbia. |
