説明Built in 1857, this Renaissance Revival-style house was constructed by German immigrant and stonemason Christian Heigold to serve as his personal residence in the then-thriving neighborhood known as The Point. Heigold lived in the house until his death in 1865, after which the house passed to his son, Charles Heigold. The house featured a front-gable roof, a red brick exterior, decorative stone trim, including quoins, decorative window trim, reliefs with wreaths and festoons, busts of US Presidents James Buchanan and George Washington, decorative stone pilasters and trim around the front door, corinthian pilasters, and six-over-six double-hung windows. The house, along with the nearby historic Paget House, survived the 1937 Ohio River Flood, which devastated the surrounding neighborhood, and the facade of the house, which had been neglected and abandoned, was salvaged during the 1953 urban renewal project that led to the destruction of the rest of the neighborhood. The facade was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The facade was relocated to its present location, in a landscaped median of Frankfort Avenue, in 2007, to make way for a condominium project on River Road, which sits on the original site of the house, adjacent to the surviving historic Paget House. The facade was restored, and the grounds of the facade are presently maintained by local floral design company Botanica.
