| 説明 | Demolition Day 031223Was it only five days since that glorious misty morning’s walk around the Dream Country Park? Wow! What a difference. I made my way there to take a final photo of the Fidlers Ferry cooling towers before four of the eight were due to be demolished later that morning. Gone was the lovely golden sunlit yet mist scenery – replaced by our first snow of this new Winter season. As for the cooling towers, as I walked through the entrance to the park at 08:35, I was greeted by a loud double BOOM. There was now no chance for that planned final shot. I’d guessed that it would have taken place about 10:00. I spoke to people who were returning from the viewpoint. I hadn’t missed anything. They were unanimous: thick fog had prevented them seeing anything of the demolition. All I had missed was a chance to photograph the people, gathered at the viewpoint , with their long lenses, tripods, folding chairs, picnic bags and primus stoves with steaming kettles. I settled for what I could find to photograph. Some you win, some you lose, as they say. |
