| 説明 | Built in 1913, this Classical Revival-style building was constructed to house an auditorium and assembly hall for the Working Men’s Institute, the adjacent public library. The building features a red brick exterior, a rusticated base, stone trim, one-over-one and five-over-one windows, doric pilasters, fluted doric columns at the front portico, a terra cotta architrave with triglyphs, and a hipped red terra cotta tile roof. The building is a contributing structure in the New Harmony Historic District, designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1965, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966. The building today continues to serve as a community auditorium. |
