| 説明 | Putting on a brave face as I take a selfie in front of the rainbow steps and the Murugan statue at the base of Batu Caves near KL, Malaysia. My, that's 272 steps- did it in 2002, can I still manage it now in 2023, at age 64? (I did, and it was surprisingly not all that bad!) As early as 1860, Chinese settlers had begun to excavate guano (bat poop) for use as fertilizer in their their vegetable farms. The Batu Caves however, became famous only after the limestone hills were noticed and recorded by colonial authorities and the American Naturalist, William Hornaday in 1878.
