説明 | A tram ride in Malawati village in Kuala Selangor up the hill to Bukit Malawati (Malawati Hill) is part of the Kuala Selangor fireflies tour. The first stop the tram makes up the hill to an area full of rather tame Silvered Leaf monkeys. (Silvery Lutungs)- I've seen plenty of these critters in Sandakan in East Malaysia back in 2013. Here, a group of them lounges about on a tree atop Bukit Malawati. Feeding the monkeys seems to be a big racket here, as is apparent from the well stocked store by the roadside and the pushy vendors. The semi-wild Silvered Leaf Monkeys are fairly used to human presence, especially with the feeding routine when they descend from the tree and let people approach them fairly close. Still, they are wild animals after all, so it pays to exercise caution as they can suddenly turn hostile when the overenthusiastic visitor crosses the line and teases the animals beyond their tolerance limit. The Silvery Lutung (Trachypithecus cristatus), also known as the Silvered Leaf Monkey or the Silvery Langur, is arboreal and occurs in coastal, mangrove, and riverine forests in Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, Java and other nearby islands.
