説明 | RAF Comberton is located near the village of Wick, but in order to avoid confusion with Wick in Scotland, Comberton was the name adopted. The radar site began life in the Second World War as a Ground Controlled Intercept (GCI) station, constructed with the wartime standard 'Happidrome' operations block. The site received an upgrade during the Rotor years, with a new operations block and an expansion of the radar equipment. While the main operations site has been recently developed, some remnants of its past use remain in the farmland surrounding the site. There was no accommodation on site and personnel were billeted nearby. |
