説明 | This is a seismogram from the Butte seismic station at the Montana Tech campus in the town of Butte, Montana, USA. The earthquake-like noise was caused by a blast of magnitude 2.1 at the Continental Mine (also known as the Continental Pit) on the eastern side of Butte. The surface explosion occurred at 1:02 PM, local time, on 19 July 2023. Blasting results in considerable volumes of loose copper-molybdenum ore, which is partially processed on site.
