| 説明 | Vote Pita Limjaroenrat #2 - Banner in Bangkok's Khlong Toei Neighbourhood.On 14 May 2023, young Thai voters delivered a shocking blow to the neo-liberal establishment, royalists and the military by rewarding Pita Limjaroenrat's Move Forward Party, with150 of the 500 seats in parliament, 10 more seats than the next largest party. Move Forward has made it clear it wants progressive change and radical reform of the country's institutions. A few days after the election, seven parties agreed to go into coalition with Move Forward, which should make Pita the country's new prime minister, except that the establishment are now apparently resorting to every trick to prevent him, with a spurious charge regarding share ownership in a media company, although Pita has pointed out that it hasn't operated as a media company since 2007. At this year's Pride on 4 June, Pita promised same sex marriage rights for the LGBTQ community. He also also promised to back a rise in the minimum wage, protections for migrant workers and to cap energy tariffs. |
