| 説明 | The Llanelly & District Electric Lighting & Traction Company was first registered in 1899 but remained dormant until it was reactivated as a subsidiary of Balfour Beatty in 1905 to provide the town's electricity supply and run the tramway system. Trolleybuses replaced the trams in 1933 and as an electricity supplier the company was nationalised in 1948. The new South Wales Electricity Board did not wish to become a bus operator and in 1952 the company was sold to BET subsidiary South Wales Transport in an early example of privatisation! The trolleybus system was closed in November 1952 and replaced by South Wales Transport buses.The photo of 42681 was taken in Bridgend. |
