説明 | Meadow brome occurring as one bunch along the trail above the College M at the south end of the Bridger Range, Gallatin County, Montana. This grass is occasionally grown for hay in the Gallatin Valley. Its presence is unexpected, but alongside a trail on a steep slope (south facing but open understory) in a disturbance prone site is expected. This site is open understory in a postfire Douglas Fir stand. A bunched growth habit, sparsely hairy leaves, and lemma awns averaging upwards of nearly 10 mm long distinguish this perennial bromegrass from the more abundance smooth brome. |
