| 説明 | This house was built in the early 1400s. It was used as a 'beguinage'. A beguinage was a community of lay women (not sworn to a particular religious order) who chose to live a life of poverty and chastity. This is said to be the only house in Elm Hill to escape destruction by fire in 1507. The fire of March 1507 lasted for four days and destroyed almost all of the buildings on Elm Hill. This building also has one of the few remaining thatched roofs in Norwich. |
