Below is further information.A Broken Kiss appears to us suspended between memory and history, between that which actualizes the past, and that which attests to the inexorable passage of time.In this indefinite interval we are greeted by silence ... The silence of a marble face of which only the tight lips and the sensation of an impenetrable fixity remain, and which adds to the highly historicized space of the square, an aura of eternity.Made of marble, the sculpture-fountain, to this day, is shown to be enriched by iridescent streaks, due to the effect of water on the stone surface, which would almost appear to be painted. Below, in the basement part, the citations to classical reliefs continue with headless busts and faces without limbs that maintain the choice of the fragment and the unfinished of Michelangelo's memory, typical of the style of this sculptor.Once again then, the 'element of water forming a mirror at the foot of the sculpture adds a detail that establishes a contact with this city, whose water features, whether natural or artificial, are a symbol of it.Recently deceased Igor Mitoraj ( Oederan March 26, 1944 - Paris October 6, 2014 ) was a Polish-born sculptor who pursued his artistic training first in Krakow and or later in Paris, where he decided in the early 1970s to devote himself exclusively to sculpture.His art attempts to reconcile conflicting influences drawn during his long stays in New York, the capital of modernity, and in Greece, the realm of classicism.
