説明 | Trus Madi Entomology Camp, Nuluhon Trusmadi Forest Reserve, Keningau District, Sabah, Borneo. Lower montane dipterocarp forest, 1050 m.Darker background colour, body marks and infuscations on the tegmina, differ the M. merula from M. imperatoria. While M. imperatoria is confined to peninsular Malaysia, M. merula is confined to Borneo. These 2 species are the biggest cicadas in the world.
