説明 | This is the disconnect side of one of the 13,800 volt reactors at the old Gorsuch powerstation outside of Marietta Ohio. The station was built for Union Carbide Corporation. The first generating unit went on line in 1951.Two workers lost their lives during the construction of the powerhouse. One worker fell through the roof and another was electrocuted here, while working alone. Apparently disoriented, the electrician contractor mistakenly unbolted these access panels (identical in color at the time of the accident) and got inside. Never again were electricians allowed to work by themselves. |
