| 説明 | This Churchill AVRE was lost during the landing on Juno Beach on June 6, 1944. It slipped in a crater filled with water when trying to put a faggot in it. Then a bridge element was put on the roof of the tank. and gradually, the crater was fulfilled. Then a concrete screed was installed. In November 1976, after some researches, the tank is found buried under the sand, at the crossing of the Arromanches road and Avenue du Général de Gaulle (100 meters far from its current location). It was then restored by the French army workshops in Caen and unveiled as a memorial on 15 October 1977.Ce Churchill AVRE fut perdu pendant les opérations de débarquement sur Juno Beach, le 6 juin 1944. Il glissa dans un cratère rempli d'eau alors qu'il essayait de poser une facine dans celui-ci. Bloqué dans le cratère, un élément de pont fut posé par-dessus et le cratère fut progressivement comblé. Une chape de béton a ensuite été coulée à cet endroit. En novembre 1976, après quelques recherches, le char fut retrouvé enterré dans le sable, à l'intersection de la Route d'Arromanches et de l'Avenue du Général de Gaulle (à 100 m de son emplacement actuel).
