説明 | The attractive waterfall inside the Panchakki water mill complex with water falling (at the far end) into the reservoir at the site. The intriguing Panchakki water mill is famous for its underground water channel which traverses more than 8 km to its source away in the mountains. The channel culminates in a mesmerizing 'artificial' waterfall which in turn powers the mill. The complete water channel is made up of earthen pipes finely lined up. Intermittent masonry pillars are erected at appropriate distances which serve as natural suction pumps to make the water flow through the pipes with force throughout the 8 Kms. The water finally rises up to a elevated masonry pillar from where it falls down into the main cistern inside the Panchakki complex, hence forming this attractive waterfall. More notes about the Panchakki water mill appear elsewhere in this album. (see previous and subsequent pictures). (Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Dec. 2022) |
