| 説明 | A defensive fighting position overlooking one of the airfield entrances at USAF Upper Heyford. It is American in designand constructed from prefabricated concrete panels. Similiar in design to the ubiquitous Second World War pillbox, these defences were sunken into the ground and provided protection against ground attack. They date from around 1986 (based on plans in Cold War: Building for Nuclear Confrontation 1946-1989, figure 4.18, published by English Heritage) |
