| 説明 | A tranquil and ethereally beautiful spot, Sparrows Pond was created in the late 17th century by damming the Bourne Brook at it's eastern end. Originally designed to be a landscape feature for a grand neo-Gothic mansion, Gosfield Place, the house burnt down and was demolished in 1925 leaving the pond as a semi-natural landscape featuree. Now quite choked with vegetation at the periphery, the pond is home to a good selection of birds including Greylag geese, ducks, Herons and Kingfishers. |
