説明 | Ripple marks are common sedimentary structures - they form in a current. Asymmetrical ripples have a long side and short side - they form in a one-directional current by wind or water. Symmetrical ripples have more or less evenly shaped - they form in a two-directional, back-and-forth current in shallow water by wave action.Seen here are modern ripple marks developed in loose sand. The ripples were formed by winds.Locality: Goblin Valley, southeast-central Utah, USA |
