| 説明 | Church of All Saints, North Cerney, Gloucestershire, 22 September 2022. Core is 12th Century Norman but 15th Century fire caused much damage, including the nave roof and upper stage of tower so the church was virtually rebuilt. It was again restored in late 19th Century by Waller. Pictured is a carved Manticora (an Abyssinian beast) - a body of a lion, human head and arms, a scorpion's tail and a cannibalistic appetite! Why it was carved here is nor known. |
