| 説明 | 八重山諸島では農作業で播種の時期などを知るために「星見」が行われ、「昴星座の運行と播種期を忠実に観測することが各島村の古老の一大責務であった」（『八重山民族誌』喜舎場永珣著）とのこと。この星の位置を測る際に「星見石」が使われたようです。写真は登野城の星見石です。（参照元：「星見石の探求」～幻の「川平湾の星見石発見の顛末」～、国立天文台ニュース No.188） / In the Yaeyama Islands, "star observations" were carried out to know the time of sowing in agricultural work, and "precise observation of Pleiades' movement and the time of sowing was a great responsibility of the elders of each island village" (Yaeyama Ethnography, by Eijun Kishaba).
